VirtualBox only showing 32 bit guest versions on my 64 bit host OS?
I recently upgraded the Windows 8 on my home laptop to Windows 10. Everything works fine except VirtualBox. I installed VirtualBox 5.0.4, after reseting Windows 10 to its original clean status. However, when I was trying to set up a 64-bit virtual machine, I found no 64-bit guest OS option available in the virtual machine setup wizard. There are many suggestions if you try to look up in the Internet. But this one solves my problem: [http://www.fixedbyvonnie.com/2014/11/virtualbox-showing-32-bit-guest-versions-64-bit-host-os/]And a comments in that post suggests some steps are not necessary.
After deleting the VM, and trying to re-add it, I was greeted with another issue. Even though I’m running a 64-bit OS (Windows 10), and have a 64-bit CPU architecture, I couldn’t create a 64-bit VM. I could only select a 32-bit option from the dropdown menu. Now not only will my VMs not boot, I can’t even select a 64-bit version. VirtualBox not showing 64 bit Windows 10 The reasons why you might experience this issue are quite diverse and include several different elements. Since a lot of elevated and BIOS level elements are involved during virtualization (Hyper-V, Hypervisor, Hardware security etc.), it might be possible that you have some options not configured properly. I have created a Windows 10 (64-bit) guest. I installed VirtualBox v6.0.10 in the Windows 10 guest (Windows 10 Pro – v1903 – 64-bit). I am trying to create an Ubuntu (64-bit) guest inside the Windows 10 guest. I only see 32-bit options inside the Windows guest. After several attempts to resolve this, I am still only seeing 32-bit options. VirtualBox on Windows only supports one architecture x86, it does not matter if VirtualBox is a 32-bit or 64-bit process, the author's problem is connected to virtualization technology (VT-x) not being available to VirtualBox. The author indicated, in their question, they were running a 64-bit version of Windows 10.
So actually there is only one thing you really need to do, that is, turn on the virtualization technology of the CPU in your BIOS setting. For my Intel CPU, that is the VT-x technology. And then problem solved!

I know this looks like same issue that's been reported numerous times over the years, but I think this one is different.I've tried on 5 different 64-bit machines and made sure that on each of them both VT-x/VT-d are enabled and Hyper-V is not installed. Yet on three of the machines I am only allowed to select 32-bit guests and on the other two I can select 64-bit guests. What I've noticed is that the three machines that only offer 32-bit are running Windows 10 version 1709 and the two that offer 64-bit are running Windows 10 version 1703.
I know that Microsoft is pushing the 1709 updated so more and more machines will be running it over time. Can anyone else repro this issue? Any other workarounds I should try?
Thanks,
